You do not lose a year
If you missed the September start, spring lets you begin a few months later instead of waiting for the next academic year.
Bachelor's: mostly North Cyprus
Universities in North Cyprus such as EMU and the University of Kyrenia take new undergraduate students in spring as well as in September. Most universities in Turkey admit international bachelor's students only for September.
Master's and PhD in Turkey
Several universities in Istanbul, including Bahçeşehir, Medipol, Aydın and Okan, accept graduate applications for the spring semester.
Fewer choices than in September
Not every program opens in spring, and some scholarships are only for the September intake. We tell you honestly if September is the better option for you.

Universities accepting spring applications
Bachelor's programs, North Cyprus. These universities show on their official pages that new students can start in the spring semester:
Eastern Mediterranean University
Accepts undergraduate applications twice a year. Spring 2027 classes begin on 4 February 2027.
University of Kyrenia
Has published lists of spring programs for international students. Spring 2027 courses start on 8 February 2027.
Cyprus International University
Welcomes first-time students in spring. Spring 2027 classes begin on 8 February 2027.
Girne American University
Registers new international students for the spring semester. Dates are confirmed by the university each year.
Master's and PhD programs. In Turkey, spring entry at these universities is for graduate programs only:
Bahçeşehir (BAU)
Graduate applications for international students: 26 October 2026 to 5 February 2027. Spring classes start on 18 January 2027.
Istanbul Okan
Graduate applications: 1 November 2026 to 26 March 2027. Registration: 15 January to 31 March 2027.
Istanbul Aydın
Spring entry for master's and PhD programs. Applications usually open in mid-November and close at the end of February.
Istanbul Medipol
Graduate programs have fall and spring intakes. Dates are confirmed by the university each year.
Near East University
Opens graduate programs for spring. Spring 2027 classes start on 8 February 2027. Ask us about bachelor's programs.
Dates come from each university's official pages and can change. Other universities, such as Üsküdar, Altınbaş and İstinye, have not yet published spring 2027 details, so we check your program with them directly. See all universities.

How to make the February start

Talk to us now
Send us your grades, the program you want and your budget. We check which universities still have spring places for that program.

Apply in November or December
We submit your applications and follow them up. Applying early leaves time for your acceptance letter, payment and paperwork.

Visa and travel in January

Arrive before registration
Aim to arrive before course registration, which is in late January or early February at most universities. Some Istanbul universities start spring classes in mid-January 2027.
Documents you usually need

- For a bachelor's: high school diploma and transcripts
- For a master's or PhD: bachelor's (and master's) diploma and transcripts
- English certificate, if you have one (many universities also run their own English test)
- Passport-size photo

Questions about the spring 2027 intake
Can I start medicine in spring?
In Turkey, usually not. The universities we checked admit new international medicine and dentistry students for the September start only. In North Cyprus, a few universities have listed medicine or dentistry among their spring programs in past years, but this is decided every year. If you want medicine, ask us before you plan around February. Read our guide to studying medicine in Turkey in English.
Is it too late to apply for spring 2027?
Not necessarily. Some graduate application periods run into February or March 2027. But your acceptance, payment, visa and travel all take time, so it is best to apply in November or December. If there is not enough time, we help you plan for September 2027 instead.
Can I get a scholarship for spring?
Many universities offer discounts to international students in spring too, but some scholarships are only for the September intake. For example, EMU gives its all-inclusive scholarship only for September intakes. See our scholarship guide and ask us what is available for your program.
North Cyprus or Turkey?
For a bachelor's degree starting in spring, North Cyprus has more options, because most universities in Turkey admit international bachelor's students only for September. For a master's or PhD, Istanbul also has spring options. Read more about studying in North Cyprus.
When do spring classes start?
In North Cyprus, spring 2027 classes start between 4 and 8 February 2027 at the universities listed above. In Istanbul, some universities start earlier: Bahçeşehir starts its spring classes on 18 January 2027. Dates are confirmed by the university each year.
